Panjim Goa

History Of Panjim

Panjim became the part of India in the year 1961. When Goa became state in the year 1987, it was elevated to the state capital and now the tourists who want to come to Goa have to seek approval from the Indian embassy.

The church square was built in the year 1541 AD. You can also see the Adilshah palace and this is the building of old secretariat. This was the temporary residence for the viceroy of Goa. At present, the structure is the state museum of Goa.

Our Lady Of Immaculate Conception Church

The church was constructed in the year 1541 AD. The chapel is on a hill that overlooks the beautiful city.? In this church, you can find the ancient bell that came from the Augustinian ruins from the Our Lady of Grace church from Old Goa. This is the second largest bell after the bell that is located in the famous Se Cathedral. The church was converted into parish in the year 1600 AD.

Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary

From here, you can visit the famous Salim Ali bird sanctuary named after the famous ornithologist Dr Salim Ali.? If you are an environmentalist or a bird lover, you can come here to see the rarest species of resident and migratory birds.

Beaches Near Panjim

The three famous beaches near Panjim are DOna paula, Miramar and Bambolim. At Dona Paula, two rivers merge in Arabian sea.

Goa Science Center

This is a science museum on five acres and is part of national council of science museums.
