Aurangabad

Aurangabad is an ancient city in Maharashtra. It is regarded as a popular tourist hub. One of the most interesting facts about the city is that it is engulfed by the historical monuments like Ajanta and Ellora, both of which are listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites. Apart from this, you have two other fascinating monuments in the city by the name Panchakki and Bibi ka Maqbara. The city, founded in 1610 by Malik Amber, is also called the city of gates. The city is also called as the tourist capital of Maharashtra and is among the largest cities.

Ajanta and Ellora

If you want to move to Ajanta and Ellora, you will have to travel a distance exceeding 28 and 106 km respectively in order to reach both the destinations. In Ellora, you will find 34 caves that were constructed between 5th to 10thcenturies CE. Both of these heritage monuments are a classic example when it comes to the rock cut architecture. Both of these are listed in the UNESCO world heritage site list.

Bibi ka Maqbara

You can move away a distance of just 3 km from the city of Aurangabad and see this mesmerizing piece of architecture. It is actually the place of burial of the wife of Emperor Aurangzeb. It is also referred as Taj of Deccan because of its imitation with the wonder of the world.

Daulatabad fort

You can move a distance of 15 km from the city of Aurangabad in the North West direction and come cross this beautiful fort. This fort was considered as one of the most powerful forts during the medieval times and was built in the 12th century by the Yadava dynasty. Because of the military strength worth applauds, the fort was called the best fort of India by the British.

Panchakki

This is a water mill dating back to the 17th century. If you want to see this mill, you have to travel a distance of 1 km from the city. One of the best things about it is the underground water channel and it stretches a distance of 8 km towards the mountain source. ?It leads to the culmination of an artificial waterfall empowering the mill.

Gateways

The city of Aurangabad is well known for its 52 gateways and therefore, proudly known as the city of Gates.
